The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Agbarha Ward, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, has announced the suspension of 10 party members over alleged anti-party activities and internal misconduct.
The decision was contained in a communiqué dated March 31, 2026, and jointly signed by the ward chairman, Mr. Morrison Aruoture; secretary, Mr. Umufo Joseph; youth leader, Mr. Obuiwevwi Alex; and woman leader, Mrs. Omojero Blessing.
According to the ward executives, the action was taken “in line with the APC Constitution; Article 21,” citing offences including factionalisation, disobedience to party directives, and actions capable of causing division within the party.
“The following members… have been suspended from the party with immediate effect bordering on offences of anti-party activities, factionalization of the party… and gross misconduct,” the communiqué stated.
Those affected by the suspension include Chief Surv. Terry Noah, Barrister Charles Oniyere, Chief Lucky Ofomukoro, Chief Alfred Onavwa, Chief Bestman Itive, Obus Sylvester Emoefe, Christopher Imoninu, Murphy Ohwogaga, Hon. Peace Emoefe, and Chief Christabel Obiuwevbi.
The ward leadership urged party members to steer clear of the affected individuals, stating that, “All party faithful are hereby advised to have no party dealing with the aforementioned suspended individuals.”
In the same communiqué, the executives dismissed as invalid an earlier purported suspension of key party figures, including Chief Ominimini Christopher Obiuwevbi, Chief David Ohwoekevwo, and Mr. Morrison Aruoture.
“The so-called suspension… is null and void as they have no such powers to do so,” the statement declared, accusing those behind the move of acting outside the party’s structure.
The signatories further alleged that the group responsible for the earlier action were recent defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who unlawfully assumed leadership roles within the APC.
“They… unlawfully converted themselves into APC ward exco as if the party… no longer exists,” the communiqué said.
Highlighting internal tensions, the ward leadership questioned the legitimacy of the opposing group’s actions, asking rhetorically, “Can a tenant give a quit notice to a landlord? The answer is a capital NO.”
The executives also accused the suspended members of previously working against the APC during the 2023 general elections, stating, “They opposed us, campaigned against us… while we were working for President Tinubu.”
They maintained that the actions of the affected individuals had deepened divisions within the ward, adding that, “They have caused a lot of acrimony and division among party members.”
Reaffirming their position, the ward leadership concluded that the suspension “remains lawful,” calling on party faithful and the public to “take notice… and discontinue party business with them.”
The development highlights escalating factional tensions within the APC in Delta State, particularly at the grassroots level in Ughelli North.
