The Political Adviser to the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ighoyota Amori has joined the list of Deltans who have been vaccinated with the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

Amori was administered his own jab of the Covid-19 vaccine by a doctor from the Asaba Specialist Hospital in the state capital on Sunday evening.

The Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Christain Onogba also received his own dose of the vaccine.

Amori, a renowned Delta born politician and Onogba confirmed the safety of the vaccine urging others to jettison the rumour and fear created about the vaccine.

The Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, his wife, Edith and members of the state’s Executive Council on Friday took their turns to receive the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

The Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Patience Elumeze and health workers were also vaccinated in the exercise which was held at the Executive Council Chamber, Government House, Asaba.

Speaking after he was vaccinated, Okowa said that the vaccine was approved by World Health Organisation (WHO) and National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and encouraged the people to take it.
