Tributes have continued to pour in following the death of former Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, with senior political figures in Delta State describing his passing as a profound loss to the state, the Anioma people and Nigeria.
Leading the tributes, the Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ighoyota Amori (PhD), described the late Nwaoboshi as a strong political voice, astute leader and committed public servant whose courage and consistency in defending the interests of his people distinguished him throughout his public life.
Amori said Nwaoboshi’s contributions at the National Assembly, particularly in advancing the developmental aspirations of the Niger Delta region, reflected his deep sense of responsibility and commitment to nation-building.
He also acknowledged the late senator’s role in party organisation and leadership in Delta State, describing him as a disciplined party man whose influence helped shape political structures and groom emerging leaders.
Beyond politics, Amori noted that Nwaoboshi was a personal friend and brother whose relationship with him transcended party lines.
He extended condolences to the family, the Anioma nation and political associates, praying God to grant the late senator eternal rest and comfort his loved ones.
Also mourning, Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Olorogun Arthur Akpowowo, described Nwaoboshi’s death as deeply personal, referring to him as a senior brother, boss, leader and friend.
Akpowowo said the late senator’s passing had created a huge void, not only for his immediate family but also for Ibusa community, Oshimili North Local Government Area and the entire Delta State.
He prayed for God to accept Nwaoboshi’s soul and grant him eternal rest, bidding him farewell with the words, “Adieu Aguajejemba.”
In a separate tribute, Dr. Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza described the late senator as a formidable politician, dogged fighter and accomplished statesman whose imprint on Delta State politics and national legislative service remains indelible.
Osuoza recalled Nwaoboshi’s tenure as a two-term Chairman of the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his election as Senator for Delta North, noting that he was courageous, outspoken and steadfast in defending what he believed to be right in the interest of his people.
He further highlighted what he described as an act of rare wisdom by the late senator, noting that Nwaoboshi made peace with those he had political differences with before his passing, a gesture Osuoza said reflected political maturity, a large heart and spiritual preparedness.
While mourning his death, Osuoza said there was consolation in the legacy of service, reconciliation and courage Nwaoboshi left behind.
He extended condolences to the family, the All Progressives Congress (APC), political associates across party lines and the people of Delta North, praying for strength to bear what he described as an irreparable loss.
Together, the tributes paint a portrait of Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi as a fearless political actor, party leader and bridge-builder whose influence cut across party boundaries and whose legacy will endure in Delta State and beyond.
