An Issele-Uku boy in Delta State named Kido Onyegai on Friday afternoon allegedly murdered his father on the farm when the father confronted him for harvesting his crops without permission.

The victim aged 78, identified as Diokpa Ikechukwu Onyegai was a retired Health Officer at the Aniocha North Council.

NewsNet Nigeria gathered that moment after the unfortunate incident occurred the people of Ukpai swung into action and apprehended the suspect while he was trying to escape the town through a village called Ogbeowele.

He was thereafter handed over to the Police in Issele-Uku and has equally made a confessional statement according to a dependable source privy to the development.

The source who craved anonymity told this medium that though the suspect said he used wood to hit his father’s head three times available evidence suggests that the deceased was axed.

It was gathered that the man had had running battles with his son who is in his late 20s, and had on one occasion told his kindred that he was not the father to the boy.

According to our source, the elders in their family had asked him (the deceased) to bring a goat which they would kill to sever the relationship between him and the boy.

This he did not do but later accepted the boy back before the bizarre incident.

The suspect it was learnt has other siblings, but their mother died a few years ago.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, told NewsNet Nigeria that the suspect would be transferred to the headquarters of the Command in Asaba on Monday for further investigation.
