27 out of the 32 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmakers on Monday morning dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform on which they got their mandates to the House in the 2023 general elections.

The 27 of them are all said to be loyalists of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, who is expected in no distance time to also formally join the APC.

Recall that political tension heightened recently in Rivers State following a strained relationship between Wike and his supposed political godson and incumbent governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara.

The frosty relationship resulted in plots to impeach Governor Fubara with no sight yet of the end to the political logjam.

The 27 promo-Wike Rivers State lawmakers from trending pictures were in an exciting mood holding and waving the APC flag.

A video has also surfaced online showing the 27 lawmakers singing the song sung a few days ago by Nyesom Wike in the office of Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
