Police operatives in Agbarho Division of Delta State have arrested a 19-year-old suspect, Victor Peculiar, believed to be part of a five-man gang that broke into a residence at Uvwiama New Layout, Agbarho, in the early hours of 18 November.

The gang reportedly forced their way into the home at about 3:00 a.m. while the occupant was asleep.

Two intruders entered the bedroom while three others stood guard outside.

After noticing the occupant holding a machete in self-defence, the suspects fired shots through the window, damaging a 43-inch Hisense television and other electronics before escaping.

Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Pius Eredei, immediately deployed operatives and worked with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) to comb the area.

The coordinated effort led to Peculiar’s arrest, and a locally fabricated double-barrelled short gun believed to have been used in the attack was recovered during follow-up investigation.

The suspect is currently in custody and has provided statements aiding the investigation.
