Liz Truss of the Conservative Party has resigned as British Prime Minister barely seven weeks after ascending the office.
Truss on Monday, September 5, 2022, emerged UK’s third female prime minister following Theresa May and Margaret Thatcher.
She formally took over from the immediate past Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, after Johnson tendered his resignation to late Queen Elizabeth II.
The resignation of Truss, 47, came a few days after she sacked UK’s Chief Minister of Finance, Kwasi Kwarteng over the country’s worsening economic crisis.
Britain is presently facing its deepest economic crisis in decades.
