A young woman named Anita Ofili has allegedly stabbed her friend, Glory Okon, to death as revenge for snatching her boyfriend after 10 years.

The shocking incident occurred in Lagos, Nigeria, on March 26, 2023.

Ofili was arrested and has since revealed that she had been waiting for ten years to get revenge on Okon for allegedly snatching her boyfriend.

The incident took place in Ofili’s one-room self-contained apartment at Greenville Estate in the Ajah area of Lagos.

According to witnesses, the incident was discovered when one of the building’s tenants heard a scream for help coming from Ofili’s apartment at around 1:20 pm.

The tenant alerted others in the building, who forced open the door to find Ofili stabbing Okon in the neck with a kitchen knife.

Okon was rushed to the General Hospital on Lagos Island but was confirmed dead shortly after arrival due to excessive bleeding.

The suspect reportedly did not show any remorse for her actions and claimed that the victim was her friend.

Ofili’s motivation for the crime was revealed to be revenge for Okon allegedly stealing her boyfriend about ten years prior.

The two women had been close friends for almost two decades, attending the same tertiary institution, but had a falling out over the boyfriend.

Ofili explained her actions, stating, “Glory and I had been good friends for years, but she betrayed that friendship by snatching my boyfriend. I had the intention of marrying him.

Her action strained the relationship, and we went our separate ways for 10 years. We only reconciled two weeks ago. I invited her to my house, and the rest you know.”

Family members of the suspect have distanced themselves from Ofili, with one saying, “I knew Anita was troublesome, but I never knew she could go to this extent. I stopped visiting her over 12 years ago because of her character flaws.”

The police investigation has revealed that tramadol, a drug suspected to have been used to drug the deceased, was found in Ofili’s apartment.

The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department (SCIID) in Yaba for further investigation.
