Three Warri-based lawyers and a driver who were kidnapped on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, in Sabongida-Ora in Edo State have been released.

The four of them abducted along the Benin-Auchi road are Fred Aburu, Esq., Isreal Unurierume, Esq., Eda Gbejule, Esq., and Kome Esike, the driver of the vehicle.

They were on the Benin -Auchi road, on their way to court when their abductors struck.

It was jubilation and excitement galore particularly for the family of Mr and Mrs Fred Aburu, who through God’s intervention released the Warri-based lawyer from the grip of the kidnappers after days in the thick forest of Sabongida-Ora in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State.

Narrating his ordeal, the Warri-based lawyer said the six-member kidnap squad fired several shots from all corners of the road before abducting four of them into the thick bush which they trekked almost throughout the day.

Aburu, who was flanked by his wife, members of his church, friends and relatives said the kidnappers fired gunshots from all ends before abducting him, his driver and two others into the thick bush.

He said his Toyota Venza jeep was riddled with bullets stressing that only God intervened and set him free.

Members of God’s Grace Ministry International, Warri, where he worships rejoiced with him for his prompt release from the gans of kidnappers who it was gathered were herdsmen terrorising parts of the communities in Edo state.

Meanwhile, a one-time Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General in Delta State, Mr Charles Ajuyah has decried the spate of kidnapping in parts of the country and wants the federal government and security agencies to intervene and put a halt to the ugly development.

Mr Charles Ajuyah, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) spoke when some lawyers accompanied him to rejoice with Fred Aburu, who was released by kidnappers Friday night.

The Sabongida-Ora road in Edo state is a den of kidnappers where the Army on Wednesday dislodged their den and set some abducted victims free.
