The Ovie of Uvwie kingdom, Abe The First has reiterated the ban on development collection popularly known as “deve” in Uvwie kingdom of Delta State.

The monarch made the statement while proclaiming that Ugborijo is not an autonomous community in his kingdom.

NewsNet gathered that the proclamation by the traditional ruler averted what would have caused a crisis in the kingdom.

The Uvwie monarch restated that collection of development levy popularly known as “deve” is prohibited in line with the Delta State government law known as Delta State Public and Private Properties Protection Bill 2018

While addressing administrative Units Heads, Chiefs and people of Ugboroke administrative unit, the Ovie of Uvwie said that he had created 9 administrative units for administrative convenience and to attract development to the kingdom.

He commended the Chief Sunday Agbugbu led committee for the reports and recommendations in solving the controversies surrounding the placement of Ugborijo into one of the administrative units in the kingdom.

The Uvwie monarch then gave approval and recognition of Ugborijo as a community in Ugboroke administrative units and charged all the leaders and traditional chiefs to promote peaceful relationship amongst themselves stressing that peace advocacy remains his main agenda for accelerated development

In his response, the Unuevworo of Ugboroke administrative unit, Chief Dennis Omovie commended the Ovie of Uvwie for his swift intervention in restoring peace pledging to carry everyone along particularly the Ugborijo community.
