Uroye notifies Delta Assembly of passage of Pa Jemide

The Delta State House of Assembly has commiserated with the Jemide family and the Itsekiri nation over the demise of Chief Isaac Jemide.

Recall that Chief Jemide or Pa Jemide as he was fondly called died in the morning of Sunday, December 12, 2021.

Chief Jemide until his death was the Oshodi of Warri kingdom, a member of the defunct Bendel State House of Assembly between 1979 and 1983, and later Commissioner representing Delta State in the defunct Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission, OMPADEC.

He was a devout Catholic and one of the strong pillars of Saint Cyprian Catholic parish on Oilfield Road, Warri, which was closed to his residence on Okoro Street, Marine Quater’s, Warri.

The Speaker, Rt Hon Sherrif Oborevwori, during Tuesday’s plenary, on behalf of the state legislature, expressed the condolences of the House to the family of late Chief Jemide and the Itsekiri nation over the loss.

He directed the member representing Warri South One Constituency, Hon Austin Uroye to make good on informing the House when the burial rites of the late former lawmaker are fixed by the family.

Hon Uroye had at plenary brought to the notice of the House, the demise of Chief Isaac Jemide at the age of 88, stressing that the entire Itsekiri nation was mourning the departure of the great leader.

“Mr Speaker, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the demise of a foremost democrat in the state, Chief Isaac Jemide, who went to be with his ancestors on Sunday, 12th December 2021. Late Isaac Jemide was a Lawyer and served the Itsekiri nation and Delta State in several capacities.

“Mr Speaker, my colleagues, the Itsekiri nation and Delta State have indeed lost a great leader and may God give us all the fortitude to bear the loss”, Uroye stated.
