Update: NFF axes entire Super Eagles technical crew

Augustine Eguavoen Thursday stepped down as Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles with immediate effect following the failure of the team to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The NFF also withdrew the two-and-a-half years’ contract offered to the coaches and terminated the appointment of the entire technical crew of the team with immediate effect adding that a new crew will be announced after a proper review to lead the new charge of reinvigorating the Super Eagles to face future challenges appropriately.

“We thank the coaches and team officials for their service to the nation and wish them success in their future endeavours,” said NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has set up a panel to investigate the vandalism of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, after Tuesday’s 2022 World Cup playoff between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Black Stars of Ghana.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare while inaugurating the Panel on Thursday, described the acts as saddening and unacceptable.

The members are retired DIG Sanni Usman who is to serve as Chairman, Dr Henry Nzekwu – Vice Chairman among others.

The Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja was vandalized by angry supporters of the Super Eagles after their dishonourable exit from the Mundial scheduled to hold in Qatar.
