The Police in Delta has confirmed that four persons were killed on Tuesday, when heavily armed hoodlums attacked the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Issele-Uku branch and the Divisional Police Headquarters Issele-Uku in Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.
The four persons killed were an Inspector of Police, an Anioma Security Watch vigilante member, a civilian and one of the hoodlums.
The Command’s Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright said during the attack, dynamites were used by the hoodlums to destroy the security doors of the banking hall and made away with an undisclosed amount of money.
The Police Station was simultaneously attacked and riddled with bullets.
According to the police image-maker, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, when the attack began quickly mobilised patrol teams from the State Police Headquarters Asaba to Issele-Uku, led by the DC Operations, DCP Olaleye Faleye, who engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel.
He said the hoodlums escaped in two vehicles but were chased and consequently abandoned their vehicles and escaped into the bush.
He said the vehicles which were full of blood were recovered as well as one AK 47 rifle breech No. 9558 with empty magazine painted with Police colour.
