Former member of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Efe Godfrey Ofobruku has expressed his intention to contest for the governorship seat of the state come 2023, pledging to bridge the gap between the political class of 1999 and the next generation of politicians in the state.

Ofobruku made his intention known to the leadership of Delta Central 2023 otherwise known as DC-23 at the meeting of the political lobby group held on Thursday at Asaba, the state capital.

The former lawmaker who represented Uvwie Constituency for two tenures between 2011 and 2015, appealed to the group with Chief Ighoyota Amori as national chairman, to support his governorship aspiration considering his political, educational and election based experiences.

Ofobruku told the group that he has contested election twice under very difficult circumstances and won the elections appealing to the group in making choice for who to represent Delta Central for the gubernatorial race to pick someone like him that has the energy and vigour to transverse the four corners of Delta State to solicit for support and canvass for votes.

He also told the group that he has the reach at the grassroots level coupled with his young age, humility and loyalty to the political leaders in the state adding that his candidacy would guarantee the office of the governor being held in trust not just for Delta Central but for the entire people of Delta State.

Citing the bible book of 1 Samuel, Ofobruku presented himself to the DC-23 as the David for the next governorship election in the state and appealed strongly for the group’s encouragement and prayer for the battle that is ahead.

Hon. Efe Godfrey Ofobruku served as Chairman House Committee on Lands and Urban Development and later Sports between 2011 to 2015 as well as Chairman House Committee on Works and later Transport between 2015 to 2019 while in the State House of Assembly.

His father is from Ekpan community in Uvwie Local Government Area, his mother is from Eruemukohwarien in Ughelli North Local Government Area while his paternal grandmother is from Otor-Iwreko also in Ughelli North.

Ofobruku who was the immediate Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Legislative Matters also has an affinity by marriage with Delta North Senatorial District.
