All flights to the Ilorin International Airport in Kwara State have been cancelled following the crash landing of an aircraft.
NewsNet gathered that the incident actually occurred at about 9.30 am on Friday morning but the Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and other agencies allegedly opted to keep mute about it.
The aircraft was said to have flown from Abuja but crashed landed at the Ilorin airport with many passengers, including some highly-placed Nigerians, who narrowly escaped death.
All the passengers it was learnt were successfully evacuated from the runway as the plane could not reach the tarmac.
Following the development, the runway of the Ilorin International Airport has been closed to traffic pending the evacuation of the plane in the fleet of Air Peace.
