Super Eagles Supporters in Delta Reject Election Outcome, Pass Vote of No Confidence in Okumagba

The Delta State Chapter of the Super Eagles Supporters Club has rejected the outcome of its recent election and passed a vote of no confidence in National President Prince Vincent Okumagba and his executive, accusing them of deception, lack of transparency, and divisive leadership.

At a press briefing in Warri on Thursday, the chapter alleged that Okumagba’s delegates, Alhaji Umar Shehu, Arowolo Odunola, Mazi Francis Aguh, and Wilfred Akpan, conspired with Electoral Committee Chairman Chief Christian Bazunu to disenfranchise the majority of core members during the August 9, 2025 poll for personal gain.

They claimed the national president, whose own constituency is Warri/Delta State, had “betrayed an earlier resolution” agreed with the National Sports Commission before his appointment and had adopted a “divide-and-rule” approach that undermined unity in the club.

Describing the election that produced Mr. Didi Yinkore and his executive as “terrible, unacceptable, and a poor reflection of true leadership,” the chapter announced it would no longer associate with Okumagba’s faction.

The group said it had “moved forward” and would soon unveil a new “progressive alliance” to represent football supporters nationwide.

They called on National Sports Commission Chairman Mallam Shehu Dillon, Nigeria Football Federation President Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, and other sports stakeholders to note that “a man who cannot put his own house in order has no business leading the Nigeria Supporters Club.”
