A stray bullet allegedly fired by a security operative at the Yoruba Nation rally in Lagos on Saturday killed a girl who sells ice cream.

The deceased simply identified as Jumoke fell to the bullet at her shop on Ikorodu Road, Ojota, Lagos.

Protesters for the Yoruba Nation rally had on Saturday converged at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park, Ojota in Lagos, the venue of the rally to demand self-determination for the southwest in Nigeria.

Armed security operatives had arrived early at the venue before the scheduled time of 10am for the rally, which according to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, was to ensure that the rally was not hijacked by hoodlums.
