The leadership of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, and the Forum of President Generals have called on Chief Joe Omene to desist from claiming to be the President General of UPU but join the current executive to build a united Urhobo nation.

The leadership of the apex Urhobo socio-cultural body and the Urhobo President Generals Forum in a communique read by the UPU First Deputy President General, Chief Anthony Onoharigho, at a joint meeting held on Thursday at Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State said it was worrisome for Chief Joe Omene to continue to parade himself as the number one citizen of Urhobo Nation five years after the expiration of his tenure.

In their seven-point resolutions they noted that the actions of Chief Omene were not healthy for the unity and progress of the Urhobo people, Chief Onoharigho disclosed that his conduct has caused the Urhobo people large embarrassment in the face of other tribes.

The First Deputy President General described Chief Omene as an impostor whose main aim is to destabilise the Urhobo as 2023 approaches advising the public not to have any dealings with him.

Chief Onoharigho revealed that going the actions of the Urhobo traditional council in 2015, Chief Omene remains ostracised from participating in all major Urhobo functions and activities and enjoin him to have a rethink and toll the line of peace.

He pledged the unwavering support to the leadership of Chief Moses Taiga who is currently serving his second term in office and urged the Urhobo people not to be misled by the utterances of Chief Omene but to give the necessary assistance to the current President-General in his quest to make Urhobo nation enviable one.

On the 2023 governorship election, Chief Anthony Onoharigho stated that although the State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa is yet to make his stand known publicly, he was confident that Delta Central will produce the next Governor.

Chief Onoharigho equally disclosed that all necessary machinery have been set in motion to lobby other senatorial districts and tribes to support the Urhobo to produce the next governor.

Also in an interview, the President General of Udu Kingdom, Chief Godwin Nojoma, the President General of Okparabe kingdom, Chief Francis Okitikpi and Olorogun

Christiana Siakpere who spoke in line with the views of the First Deputy President General of UPU wondered why after five years, Chief Omene still parade himself as President appealing to him to stop his uncontrolled and reckless antics but toll the part of honour in the interest of Urhobo nation.
