Nigeria’s Super Eagles began their Africa Cup of Nations campaign on an impressive note on Tuesday with a 1-0 win over Egypt.
Kelechi Iheanacho of Leicester City gave the Super Eagles the lead in the 30th minute through a strong volley.
The Super Eagles throughout the encounter somewhat reinvented the ‘old spirit’ of the US 94 squad which had their current interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen.
Highly rated Egypt striker and Liverpool FC forward, Mohamed Salah was particularly humbled by Wilfred Ndidi and Kenneth Omeruo in the Nigerian defence.
Salah managed to have a fell of the ball towards the end of the second half of the match.
With this victory, the Super Eagles now top Group D with three points.
Sudan takes on Guinea-Bissau in the next match of the Group same Tuesday night.
