Super Eagles of Nigeria on Sunday recovered from their lacklustre performance last Thursday against the Central African Republic (CAR) in Lagos.
The Central African Republic team had on Thursday defeated the Super Eagles 1-0 in Lagos, a defeat which threatened the chances of Nigeria qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
At the return leg on Sunday in Douala Cameroon, the Super Eagles defeated the Central African Republic 2-0 to top Group C.
Leon Balogun scored in the 26th minute to put Nigeria ahead.
While Victor Osimhen scored the second goal in added time before the first half break.
