Portugal and Liverpool star Diogo Jota has died at the age of 28, following a ghastly car crash in northern Spain on Thursday morning.
The versatile forward was travelling in his Lamborghini with his brother Andre Silva, 26, who is also a footballer, when his car flew off the road while overtaking, crashed and burst into flames.
Emergency authorities in Castilla and Leon region confirmed the crash and death of the two occupants.
The crash occurred on the A-52 in the province of Zamora, a key route in Spain taken by drivers leaving northern Portugal.
The tragic incident happened just two weeks after Jota married his childhood sweetheart and mother of his three children, Rute Cardoso.
In an interview released on Wednesday, Jota described himself as the luckiest man in the world.
