Barring any last-minute change the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, is set to announce Emmanuel Amunike as new coach of the Super Eagles.
The Super Eagles legend according to sources was favoured more ahead of his former colleague, Finidi George, who is expected to be one of Amunike’s assistants.
The 53-year-old former Barcelona, Zamalek and Sporting Lisbon winger has a track record of leading Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets to win the FIFA U17 World Cup.
Amunike also excelled as head coach of the Tanzanian national team helping the Taifa Stars for the first in nearly forty years to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
One of his lowest ebbs was when he could not help Nigeria’s U20 team to qualify for 2017 AFCON.
