Renowned peace and development advocate, Comrade (Dr.) Sheriff Mulade, has called on ethnic groups in Warri Federal Constituency—particularly the Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo—to embrace peaceful coexistence and reject the influence of crisis sponsors.
Speaking at this year’s International Day of Peace celebration themed “Act Now for a Peaceful World,” the Ibe-Serimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom stressed that peace is not optional but essential for development and stability.
“This theme calls upon us to take immediate action, to be proactive, effective, and responsible stewards of peace,” Mulade said.
Continuing, he stated: “Warri needs permanent peace more than elections and voters. Only then can we attract investors, create jobs, and drive development in our communities.”
The activist appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders, and youths across Delta State to resist being used to foment violence, urging them instead to promote unity among Urhobo, Ijaw, Itsekiri, Isoko, and Anioma people.
He warned that there is “no open ticket for crisis beyond 2031” in Warri Federal Constituency, insisting that only genuine peace will guarantee sustainable progress in the area.
Mulade further called on all Deltans and residents to support Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in his efforts to deliver democratic dividends, while thanking Nigerians for joining the global community to commemorate the International Day of Peace.
