Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has been arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic by security operatives.
He was arrested by security operatives at an airport in Cotonou on Monday night, a top source familiar with the matter told our correspondent.
Igboho’s arrest in the Benin Republic comes about three weeks after the Department of State Services declared him wanted for allegedly stockpiling arms, an allegation he has since denied.
Source privy to the situation told Punch that Sunday Igboho’s plan was to escape to Benin Republic and from there find his way to Germany where his family is based. Igboho is said to be awaiting extradition to Nigeria.
The Department of State Security had earlier declared him wanted after raiding his house in Soka, Ibadan, Oyo state where two of his aides were killed.
