Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu has said that the Southern Governors’ decision to outlaw open grazing is irreversible and will be enforced.
The Governor, who is also the Chairman of the Southern Governors Forum, said they are prepared to defend the validity of their decision in court.
Akeredolu spoke during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today in response to the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami’s comment, criticising the restriction on open-grazing, claiming that governors do not have the authority to do so.
He noted that Malami’s comparison of open grazing to car parts trading is not only bizarre, but also unpleasant, and “betrays a horrible mindset”.
He emphasised that the governors of the South are “very willing to meet him in court.”
