Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, says it has deployed 2418 to secure all life and government critical National Assets and infrastructure in the state for the Easter celebration.
The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Akinsanya I A, who approved the deployment stated that the enjoyed peace in the state should not be taken for granted hence the Command’s personnel will be completing other security agencies in providing watertight security coverage before, during and after the celebration.
A statement by the Commnad’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Dsc Emeka Peters said the deployment is “In line with the core mandate of the NSCDC in the protection of life and property and the readiness of the Commandant Akinsanya led administration in maintaining peace and order in the state”.
The NSCDC boss maintained that the personnel were drafted from the Tactical Squad, the Anti-Vandal Unit, the Agro-Rangers, Counter Terrorism Unit CTU, the Rapid Respond Unit, Operations Dept, the Snipper Combatant (Female Squad) and the Department of Intelligence and Investigation (DII)
The Commandant also directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Component Commanders and Squadron Leaders to supervise and monitor the deployed officers to operate within the extant laws and discharge their duty with professionalism in line with international best practices.
He urged all Deltans to go about their legitimate business without fear of molestation. He reminded them to say something when they see something that their identity will never be disclosed.
Meanwhile, the Commandant has used the opportunity of the Easter celebration to admonish all Christians to love one another, just as Christ loved the Church in order to engender a Godly society.
