Rivers State Ex-Agitators Network for Development (REAND) has commended Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) under the leadership of Osahon Hosa Okunbo, for its outstanding role in reducing pipeline theft and boosting Nigeria’s crude oil production.

REAND’s leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining focus on securing the country’s oil infrastructure as part of efforts to help Nigeria reach the target of producing 3 million barrels per day.

The group made the remarks during a press briefing held in Abuja on Tuesday, where Comrade Henry Itazi, President of REAND, and Comrade King Ibu, the Secretary, spoke on their behalf.

According to them, strategic measures deployed to secure pipelines across the Niger Delta have significantly reduced incidents of sabotage and theft, creating a more stable environment for oil exploration and transportation.

These efforts have been credited with directly contributing to the increase in Nigeria’s crude oil production, which is central to the country’s economic recovery and energy security goals.

REAND also applauded the continuous efforts to dismantle illegal oil bunkering flashpoints in states like Cross River, Abia, and Rivers, further reducing the risks of theft and damage to oil infrastructure.

The Ex-Agitators also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mele Kyari, Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), for their ongoing support of PINL’s work. REAND called for continued government patronage, stressing that such support is vital for advancing Nigeria’s energy security and boosting the country’s oil production capacity.

Looking ahead, REAND urged PINL to stay focused on its goal of achieving 3 million barrels per day in crude oil production.

Additionally, REAND commended the leadership of Osahon Hosa Okunbo, the Executive Director of PINL, for his role in transforming the security and operational efficiency of the nation’s oil infrastructure.

The statement reads, “We are particularly appreciative of the company’s consistent commitment to restoring the integrity of pipelines across the region, which is central to Nigeria’s position as one of the leading oil producers in Africa.

“While we celebrate the successes so far, we urge Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited to continue in this positive trajectory. Nigeria has set an ambitious target of reaching 3 million barrels per day in crude oil production, and we believe that with the continued dedication of PINL, this goal is not only achievable but within reach.”

“We believe that in achieving the target of 3 million barrels per day, PINL will play a key role in driving Nigeria’s economic recovery, fostering job creation, and improving the well-being of communities in the Niger Delta.”
