It is no longer news that huge exchanges of dollars instead of naira now characterise the conduct of primaries of most political parties in Nigeria as part of strategies by aspirants to sway the votes of delegates in their favour.
This has however raised serious concern amongst majority of Nigerians on the quality, capacity, competence, antecedents and pedigree of the flag bearers of these political parties who emerged through ‘dollar rigged’ primaries.
Political pundits opined that with wrong choices of candidates of political parties on the ballots in the 2023 general elections due to the greed of most delegates, eligible voters are left with little or better alternatives to cast their votes for.
The adverse consequences according to the pundits would be the emergence of representatives who do not have the passion and commitment to advance development in a country that already sliding to an irredeemable end.
It is interesting to watch a video currently trending on WhatsApp loops of a man who was allegedly a party delegate to the primaries of one of the political parties in Delta State showing the red Toyota Camry popularly referred to as “Spider” he allegedly bought from his share of the dollars that rained in his party’s primaries.
