Urhobo National Youth Movement congratulates Delta Governor-Elect, says he will deliver M.O.R.E Agenda

The leadership and members of Urhobo National Youth Movement, UNYM, have congratulated Delta State Governor-Elect, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, on his victory on March 18, 2023, polls and subsequent collection of his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

President of UNYM, Chief Gbenga James Awomakpa in a congratulatory message on behalf of the group noted that the emergence of Oborevwori as Delta State Governor-Elect was a true reflection of the will of Deltans.

Chief Awomakpa said the overwhelming votes of the people demonstrate their love for Oborevwori and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

“The outcome of the March 18, 2023, governorship election in Delta State clearly shows that PDP is still very much in firm control of the state.

“This sustained dominance of PDP of the political space of Delta State is attributable to the performance of the party-led successive administrations especially since 2015 when Senator Ifeanyi Okowa took over the realms of power of the state.

“Again, the governorship candidate put forward by the PDP in the March 18, 2023, gubernatorial election, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori is a grassroots politician whose penetrations and acceptability cut across the nooks and crannies of the 25 local government areas of the state. For this reason, as reflected in the election results, PDP won in 21 out of the 25 LGAs,” said Awomakpa.

He described the Governor-Elect as a man destined by God to govern the state at a time like this and called on those who contested with him to join forces with him to build a more progressive state.

The UNYM President expressed members’ optimism about Oborebwori’s ability to deliver his M.O.R.E Agenda to better the lives of all Deltans based on his pedigree and capability.

He prayed for God’s wisdom, guidance, and protection for the Governor-Elect and sued for maximum support and prayers from Deltans for him.

Chief Awomakpa noted that “Our Governor-Elect is indeed a man of grace and destiny. Despite the gang ups before and after the PDP primary through the electioneering campaigns God demonstrated in his life that His is still God. Even with the defection of some prominent leaders of the PDP in the state to the main opposition political party in the state, God still gave Oborevwori a resounding victory in the election.

“The battle is over and the best thing for our dear Delta State is for all those who contested against him to accept defeat and rally round the Governor-Elect, who is passionate and committed to advancing the development of Delta State as encapsulated in his M.O.R.E Agenda.”

While acknowledging the exemplary leadership role played by Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Chief Awomakpa commended him for standing firmly with the Governor-Elect and the PDP.

He further commended Governor Okowa for bringing the youths to the limelight especially politically.
