A frontline aspirant for the chairmanship seat of Ughelli North Local Government Council, Comrade Lucky Olerhimena Ofomukoro has distanced himself from any petition or protest against the decision of the Peoples Democrat Party, PDP, on chairmanship position of Ughelli North Local Government Council in the July 13, 2024, local government elections in Delta State.

Recall that the Delta State chapter of the PDP on Wednesday in its timetable and schedule of activities fixed tomorrow Friday, May 10, for the commencement of purchase of nomination forms by aspirants jostling for either the chairmanship or councillorship positions for the Council polls in July.

In a statement on Thursday, Comrade Ofomukoro said he has no link to any petition or planned protest to undermine the supremacy of the Delta PDP led by Olorogun Kingsley Esiso.

Ofomukoro in the statement urged other chairmanship aspirants to uphold the dignity of the party saying, “The party is supreme and I urge those disappointed by the party leadership’s decision to remain calm and sheath their sword”.

The statement reads below:

DISSOCIATION FROM ANY FORM OF PETITION/ OR PROTEST AGAINST OUR PARTY PDP DECISION

Ughelli North Council Chairmanship: Lucky Ofomukoro dissociates self from protest against PDP decision.

I, Comrade Lucky Olerhimena Ofomukoro (JP), Ughelli North LGA 2024 Chairmanship aspirant under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), hereby distance myself from any form of protest or petition against our party decision regarding the forthcoming Delta State Local Government Council Elections in Ughelli North LGA by any group or individual.

As a party man, I abide by the decision of the party on its choice of candidate to fly the flag of the party in the forthcoming council election. The party is supreme and I urge those disappointed by the party leadership’s decision to remain calm and sheath their sword.

We all the aspirants have been called for a dialogue meeting, thereafter, I shall address my team of supporters and the Press on the way forward.

I remain committed and faithful to our great party ideology.

God bless the good people of Ughelli North LGA and Delta State in general.

Thank you.

Signed:

Comrade Lucky Olerhimena Ofomukoro (JP)
