The Commissioner representing the Ijaw ethnic nationality on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Hon. Spencer Okubo Okpoye has felicitated with Governor Sherrif Oborevwori and his Deputy Governor, Sir. Monday Onyeme, on their legal victory.
In a statement following Friday’s Supreme Court judgement, Okpoye praised Governor Oborevwori’s tenacity during the March 18, 2023, gubernatorial election and the tenacious efforts of PDP members across Delta State.
Okpoye said, “The recent affirmation by the Supreme Court in favour of the governor validates the determination of Deltans who cast their votes for the PDP and Governor Oborevwori.
“Deltans have clearly expressed their will through their votes, and today’s judicial pronouncements further affirm Governor Oborevwori’s victory in the 2023 governorship poll.”
Recognizing Governor Oborevwori’s exceptional record and noteworthy accomplishments as the immediate past speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, the DESOPADEC Commissioner emphasized that Deltans have unflinching faith in his mandate.
Spencer Okpoye added, “This is the personification of democracy and the rule of law that we are seeing today. A record number of Deltans cast ballots in the March 18th election, electing H.E. Rt. Hon. Elder Sherrif F.O. Oborevwori to serve as the state’s executive governor.
“I would like to congratulate H.E. Governor Sherrif Oborevwori on his well-earned victory in the Supreme Court.
“I also commend the leadership and members of our esteemed party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and all Delta State residents, both at home and in the Diaspora, on this significant legal victory to unite with Governor Sherrif Oborevwori in delivering genuine democratic dividends through the M.O.R.E. agenda of the incumbent administration.”
