A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof Rukevwe Ugwumba (Nee Akpedeye) has said that the President-elect of Nigeria, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, is one who has a proven track record of performance needed at this critical stage of the political reengineering of the country.
On Wednesday morning, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the former Lagos State governor as the winner of the Saturday, February 25, 2023, presidential election on the banner of the APC with total votes of 8,794,726.
Ugwumba, a Canadian-based medical practitioner, philanthropist, and politician, who hails from Uwheru community of Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State in a congratulatory message on the emergence of Bola Tinubu as the sixteen President of Nigeria said, the Jagaban has his popular called has come with a message of ‘Renewed Hope’ for the country in dire need of transformation and national unity.
The professor of medicine and family health said, “The emergence of Bola Tinubu is a new dawn in Nigeria. I congratulate the President-elect and the Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima on their victory in the just concluded presidential election.
“For me and millions of Nigerians who came out en masse last Saturday to cast our votes for the Tinubu-Shettima presidential ticket, the INEC declared results and the victory that followed reflected the wishes of Nigerians across the country.
“We cherish the victory and we are confident that the President-elect, Bola Tinubu has the competence, capacity, pedigree, a vast wealth of experience, mental and physical sagacity to right the wrongs of our dear country.”
Prof Ugwumba, a member of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council and Deputy Director of Health, Delta APC Campaign Council, therefore, called on all Nigerians irrespective of political divides to rally support for the incoming administration of Bola Tinubu, who has a deep sense of commitment and loyalty to develop the country to the envy of the outside world.
“Renowned and credible international election observer groups that monitored the Saturday, February 25, 2023, presidential election have attested to and given a pass mark to the conduct and outcome of the election.
“Unnecessary litigation is not what we need now. Bola Tinubu has the antidote for the myriad of problems plaguing the Nigerian state. We will surely rejoice and celebrate that indeed the light has come,” said Prof Ugwumba.
