PDP blasts Omo-Agege, says Okowa’s projects are visible in Delta

Ughelli South Local Government Area chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State on Saturday, took a swipe on the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, over recent media reports credited to him wherein he accused Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of concentrating development in Owa Kingdom in Ika North-East Local Government Area to the detriment of other parts of the state.

Okowa, the third PDP governor to govern Delta since the coming of the Fourth Republic in 1999, hails from Owa-Alero, one of the communities that make up Owa Kingdom.

Chairman and Secretary of the party in the local government area, Mr Oshetienigho Djegbe and Mr Ivbromonena Balogun, respectively in a statement said, “Facts they say speak for itself.

“What Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has done in Ughelli South and Delta State as a whole in the last six years plus are very visible for everybody to see, except for the blind who are basically within the fold of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the state.

“Since assumption of office in 2015, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has virtually touched every part of the State including Orogun, the hometown of the opposition leader in the State, the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

“Almost all the internal roads in Orogun and other infrastructures were done by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP led government of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, a detribalised leader, who does not consider political sentiments in sitting projects.

“Unlike the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who sited almost all the viable and people-oriented projects he influenced from the Federal Government in his homeland, Orhomuru-Orogun, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s project are everywhere across the state.

“The Federal Polytechnic, Airspace School, Power substation, Nigerian Law School, among other viable projects influenced by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to Delta Central, which he represents at the Senate, are sited in Orogun, except for scanty street lights and transformers which he threw to other communities as crumbs, making them look like beggars after giving him their mandate to represent them at the Senate.

“It is appalling and annoying for the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to have hired some worthless politicians to Ovwor-Olomu, a stronghold of the PDP, under the guise of receiving decampees who were not hitherto members of our great party, the PDP.

“The PDP, which is a benefactor of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and his like in the APC, has done so much for Deltans to the extent that the party is now in the DNA of every Deltan, except for few disgruntled elements who were not given the space to perpetuate bad representation/leadership in the State.

“The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was part and parcel of the PDP until 2015 when he left to contest the senatorial election under the platform of the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP after losing the PDP Governorship ticket to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

“What Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has done in the last six years plus with the meagre resources coming into the state occasioned by the poor economic policies of the APC led Federal Government, is unprecedented.

“It is most unfortunate, that some people could pretend to be blind or seeing the great infrastructural development projects being executed by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in the State because of political sentiments.

Some of the completed and ongoing projects done by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in Ughelli South Local Government Area for which the people are eternally grateful to him are; “Renovation of Okpare Primary Health Care Centre; Renovation of Otor-Ewu Primary Health Care Centre; Renovation of Oviri-Olomu Primary Health Care Centre; Renovation of Ekakpamre Primary Health Care Centre; Renovation of Effurun-Otor Primary Health Care Centre; Renovation of Edjophe Primary Health Care Centre; Renovation of Otu-Jeremi Primary Health Care Centre; Renovation of Okwagbe Primary Health Care Centre; Renovation of Usiefrun Primary Health Care Centre and Opening/Clearing of the canal at Otu-Jeremi.”

Others are; “Opening /Clearing of the Canal at Okpare Olomu; Supply of about 900 Waste Disposal Bins; Rehabilitation/Asphalt laying of Ovwor-Oteri Road; Rehabilitation/Asphalt laying of Otu-Jeremi – Okwagbe Road; Rehabilitation/Asphalt laying of Otu-Jeremi – Owahwa Road; Construction of Ovwor-Effurun Otor Bridge with Adjoining Roads; Construction of Okpare Olomu – Kiagbodo Road; Construction of Iwhrekreka – Ughevwughe Road; Construction of Otokutu – Egbo-Uhurie Road; Construction of Okwagbe –Otutuama – Esaba- Ophorigbala Roads and Construction of Ekrokpe – Usiefrun Road.”

The party in the statement listed other projects to include: “Rehabilitation of Ekrokpe – Egbo-Uhurie Road; Rehabilitation of Ekakpamre Community Roads; Construction of Orere Bridge (500 metres) with 4km access roads; Construction of Edjekota Road through Otor-Ewu to Orere River; Construction of Orere Township Roads; Construction of Oviri-Olomu –Egodo Road; Construction of a block of three classrooms at Baba-Ido Primary School, Okwagbe; Construction of Two Toilets at Baba-Ido Primary School, Okwagbe and Drilling of Water Bole System at the premises of Baba-Ido Primary School, Okwagbe”.

Also executed by the Okowa administration in the area according to the party are: “Renovation of a Block of three Classrooms at Ekameta Primary School; Construction of two blocks of three classrooms each at the premises of Ekameta Primary School; Perimeter Fencing of Ekameta Primary School; Drilling of Water Bole-hole and installation of Solar System at Gbaregolor Primary School II, Gbaregolor; Supply of 250 Desks to Gbaregolor Primary School II, Gbaregolor; Renovation of a block of three classrooms at Ogun Primary School, Ovwor; Renovation of a block of twelve classrooms and H/M’s office at Orhowhe Primary School, Iwhrekan and a host of others”.
