Ondo Assembly okays Akeredolu’s deputy as Acting Governor

Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been confirmed as the Acting Governor of the state.

The confirmation of Aiyedatiwa in acting capacity followed the receipt of a letter from Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to the Ondo State House of Assembly that he would again be proceeding on a medical leave

Speaker of the House, Olamide Oladiji who confirmed the receipt of Akeredolu’s letter in a statement issued on Wednesday, said the action of the Governor is in line with the Nigerian constitution as amended.

“Following Doctor’s advice on the need for medical follow-up after recuperating, Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, has forwarded the letter on medical leave to the State House of Assembly.

“According to the letter, his Deputy, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa would now assume the responsibilities of the Governor in acting capacity until there is a written declaration to the contrary.

“The leave is expected to commence on Wednesday,13th December, 2023,”
