Olorogun Edewor Tony Omonemu has resigned his appointment as Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Wealth Creation.
Edewor, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from Ughelli South Local Government Area was a member of the State Executive Council as Commissioner for Commerce and Industry under the administration of former Governor James.
The lawyer cum politician who has also held several positions in the successive PDP-led administration of the state since 1999 told NewsNet Nigeria that part of his reasons for resigning as an SSA to Governor Okowa is to focus on academics and chart a better political course going forward.
Edewor’s resignation is contained in a letter dated January 31, 2023, and addressed to the Secretary to the State Government with copy to the Chief Job Creation Officer, Delta State.
He said in the resignation letter, “I hereby tender my resignation of appointment as Senior Special Assistant (Wealth Creation) to the Govermor, His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa with immediate effect.
“The above is to enable concentrate fully on my chosen career as an academic.
“I thank his Excellency the Governor for finding me worthy to serve in his administration.
“I also thank the Chief Job Creation Officer for providing a conducive and
convivial atmosphere to contribute my little quota to governance at that level.”
