Omo-Agege’s ex-aide predicts victory for Amori, says Dafinone is alien to plights of Urhobo nation

Olorogun Godwin Obire, a former senior legislative aide to the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and now Senior Special Assistant (SSA Political) to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State have said that those promoting nepotism, and land mannish-ness to win the 2023 Delta Senatorial election will fail.

Olorogun Obire, from Agbarho Orhokpokpo, also said the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has no base in Urhobo nation, especially in Sapele.

He expressed this concern in an interview with journalists in SapeAll Progressives Congress senatorial candidate after inaugurating the Sapele chapter of the Amori United Front, a group canvassing support for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Delta Central Senatorial candidate, Chief Ighoyota Amori.

According to him, Urhobos especially, in the Sapele Local Government Area has suffered so much under the APC senatorial leadership/administration of Ovie Omo-Agege and would not be swayed by clannish sentiments during the elections by voting for an alien who knows nothing about the plight of the people.

He explained that those brainwashing our people with sentiments, “to get votes, this time around it will not work because everything has changed.

“APC promised to provide inclusiveness and so many other things, but they have failed in giving sea sense of belonging to all the kingdoms that make up the Urhobo nation with their primitive nepotism and clannishness.

“Urhobos are looking for somebody competent, somebody with the capacity to unite and address the problems facing Delta central senatorial district.”

He said the Urhobo nation has the highest voting population, adding the senatorial district will support the PDP massively.

“The APC has nothing to offer UrUrhobosthis time around, we will give the PDP senatorial candidate, Ighoyota Amori massive votes. The PDP is the only hope of the people,” he said.

He dismissed the recent prediction by some induced politicians in APC that Ede Dafinone candidate of the APC will win the senatorial district, saying, “it is a mere prediction from APC”.

He declared that there is no way Ede Dafinone will win this election because he has no base here in (Delta Central

“Ede Dafinone is an alien who knows nothing about us. We need somebody who will unite the Urhobos. We need somebody who has a political base across the 24 kingdoms that make up the Urhobo nation.

“Those who are comparing Ede Dafinone with Ighoyota Amori to me are committing political sin.

“If you go across Urhobo kingdoms, there are a lot of people Amori has empowered with government contracts and political appointments since the inception of this fourth republic. What is the scorecard of Ede? Ede Dafinone is just mingling and interacting with people that are occupying political positions.

“He has no base at the grassroots. Nobody knows him at the grassroots, but Ighoyota Amori is a household name at the grassroots, not only in the Delta Central Senatorial District but across the country.”

Obire also advised Ede Dafinone to step down for Ighoyota Amori and don’t be deceived by a political jobber who collected five billion from a prominent son of Urhobo in return for the position of NDDC chairman but ended up defrauding same.
