The Executive Assistant to the Delta State governor on Religious Matters, Pastor (Dr) Marvel Ray Omaruaye has said that the victory of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori on March 18, 2023, governorship in the state was divine.

Omaruaye while congratulating the Delta State governor-elect in a statement on Thursday noted that power comes from God in line with Psalm 62:10-11 which says that “Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God, and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For you will render to a man according to his work.”

“First, when you cast your mind back to the events leading to the PDP governorship primary in 2022 you will agree with me that it was God that saw Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori through. Despite the gang-ups especially the several legal battles, it can only be God gave our governor-elect victory over all of them.

“Secondly, it is on record that the political campaigns that characterised the governorship election was unprecedented in the political annals of Delta State. Again, it was God that saw Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori through the rigorous and fierce campaigns that were laced with excessive blackmails and character assassination,” said the EA to the Delta State governor.

Omaruaye, who is also the President of Delta Peoples Mandate For Sheriff praised Deltans for believing in Sheriff Oborevwori and not succumbing to the falsehoods against him by the opposition political parties during the campaigns.

He added that with a God-fearing man like Sheriff Oborevwori in the saddle from May 29 this year, Delta State and indeed Deltans are sure of sustainable development as encapsulated in his MORE Agenda.

“I want to give a big kudos to His Excellency, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State for trusting and holding firm to the belief that Sheriff Oborevwori is the right person to succeed him and build on his landmark achievements.

“Judging by his antecedents, particularly his numerous empowerment programmes and sterling leadership qualities as Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Sheriff Oborevwori has proven to be someone that is dependable and committed to advancing the development of Delta State.”
