A founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Dr Charles Olisa, on Saturday resigned his membership of the party six days after meeting Governor Ifeanyi Okowa at Government House, Asaba.
NewsNet had reported that Olisa’s meeting with Okowa last Sunday is expected in the coming days to translate to his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
His letter of resignation dated Saturday, August 7, 2021, was addressed to the Caretaker Ward Chairman, All Progressives Congress, Ward 10 Ashaka in Ndokwa East Local Government Area.
In the letter, the immediate past State Coordinator, Agege Political Vanguard (APV) said, “I, Dr. Charles Olisa, a Founding Member, Former Member, Delta State Interim State Executive Committee, of APC and Former Candidate, House of Assembly for Ndokwa East Local Government Constituency hereby formally resign my membership of your party-APC with effect from today, Saturday 7 of August, 2021”.
He gave the following reasons for dumping the party: Multiple factions and unending bitter rivalry bedeviling the party; lack of Internal Party Democracy which has led APC Delta to a “One Man Party”; leadership failure in Delta State APC with no clear direction and consistent Breaches in the Party’s promises to deliver the much needed dividend of Democracy to Nigerians which has caused untold hardships to the entire citizens of Nigeria.
Dr Charles Olisa, a high chief, was a former member of the Delta State Interim State Executive Committee of APC and former candidate, Delta House of Assembly for Ndokwa East Constituency.
