Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has called for massive mobilisation of eligible voters to ensure a landslide victory for the PDP, in the forthcoming State House of Assembly Bye-election for Isoko South Constituency 1.

Okowa made the call during the party’s grand finale campaign at Oleh Ward one and Two, held at Isoko Central School, Oleh in Isoko Local Government Area.

It was a charged atmosphere, as various groups and associations including market women and men association, Isoko South chapter, danced round the area, expressing support for the PDP candidate for Isoko South Constituency 1, Hon. Evivie Ovuakpoye.

The Governor thanked the people for their unreserved support to the PDP and for maintaining peace and calmness in the area.

He enlightened the people of the new Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) introduced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which allows for accreditation of voters with both fingerprints and photo, using the Permanent Voters Registration PVC.

He urged the people to turn out massively for Saturday, September 11, 2021, election.

The Governor reminded them that voting in an election is their right and civic responsibility and urged them to do so in a peaceful and orderly manner, and wait to defend their votes to ensure it counts.

Dr Okowa expressed his love for the Isoko people describing them as gifted and advised them to look beyond the forthcoming bye-election, forgive each other, and work together in unity and brotherly love.

He promised to liaise with the Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Jonathan Ukodhiko, to proffer solution to the electricity challenge in Oleh and assured them that other ongoing projects in the area would be completed.

The State PDP Chairman, Kingsley Esiso, the Director-General PDP Campaign Council, Sir Malik Ikpokpo and some leaders in the area said since 1999, Isoko South has voted PDP overwhelming, saying that the people of Oleh would vote PDP in appreciation of the Old Oleh-Ozoro Road and the dualised Emore Road constructed by the Okowa administration.

They expressed readiness for a smooth election process

Decampees from other political parties led by Hon. Jonathan Egbe, who said they had been badly beaten by the scorching sun and rain in their quest for a good political footing, adding that they had come to find solace under the wide umbrella of the PDP.

The Decampees were received by the State Chairman of PDP who declared them bonafide members of the PDP, after which Party flag was publicly handed over to Hon. Evivie Ovuakpoye the party’s flag bearer for the Saturday’s Isoko South one Constituency bye election.

The Campaign to the various wards that make up Isoko south Constituency One, which had earlier been held at Irri Ward 11, Irri ward 10 and Ward 5 Emede, was attended by PDP faithful across the state.

The bye election is to fill the vacant seat created by the demise of Hon Kenneth Ogba, who represented the Constituency until the sad loss on 27 June 2021.
