Some aggrieved youths in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State have faulted the nomination of a former member of Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Peter Okagbare Uviejitobor as commissioner.
The group, known as Udu Indigenous Youths in Politics led by Comrade Esiefa Ovie from Ward 2, called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori not to swear in Uviejitobor.
In a statement on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, the group stated, “If Udu must get it right and be repositioned for good representation and good governance, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Executive Governor of Delta must appoint the best into his cabinet.
“We are pleading with His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to listen to our demand to drop Hon. Chief Uviejitobor Peter. The governor should nominate another person from Udu local government as commissioner”
“The governor should look around young men with goodwill in Udu to represent the local government and not Uviejitobor.
“His Excellency, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori should hear our cry and re-nominate anybody of your choice.
“Our amiable governor, your choice so far from board chairmen, DESOPADEC commissioner, the local government chairman, and other Director General has been celebrated because we need team players that’s the only way we can win elections.”
