Deputy Chief Whip of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Solomon Ighrakpata has expressed optimism that the state will witness sustained progress with Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori as Governor.
Speaking at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba shortly after the swearing-in of Oborevwori as Governor and Sir Monday Onyeme as Deputy Governor, Hon Ighrakpata stated that the remarkable achievements of Oborevwori as Speaker of the Delta Assembly informed the massive support of his candidacy to take over from where Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa stopped.
The lawmaker while congratulating Rt Hon Oborevwori on his assumption of office as Governor of Delta State, noted that the legacies of the Okowa’s administration will be built upon by the new administration in the state.
Ighrakpata, who represents Uvwie State Constituency assured that there would be continuity in the implementation of programmes and policies of government as the new governor, Sheriff Oborevwori was part and parcel of the immediate past governor of the state.
“I want to on behalf of my wife, family, and political associates, congratulate His Excellency, Rt Hon (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori (JP) FICMC, FNIM, on assumptions of office as Governor of Delta State. We saw it coming and we are indeed grateful to God that it all ended with praise.
“Having worked closely with Oborevwori as a Principal Officer of the Delta State Assembly, where he presided as Speaker for over six years, I am confident that he will bring his wealth of experience to bear in the governance of our dear Delta State.
“I pray God to grant him the grace and all that is required to raise the standard of lives and infrastructure in Delta State for the benefit of Deltans and to the glory of God,” Ighrakpata stated.
