Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori will on Thursday, February 1, 2024, swear in three new Commissioners as members of the State Executive Council.
The three commissioner nominees, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, Ekemejero Ohwovoriole (SAN), and Hon. Kanemala Penewou were earlier screened and cleared by the Delta State House of Assembly during plenary on Tuesday.
A statement by the Secretary to Delta State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, said the event will take place at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba at 10am.
The statement further added that the appointees, their family members and guests are to be seated by 9.30 am.
The three of them to be sworn in by the Governor as Commissioner for Information, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs respectively.
At Tuesday’s plenary, the Majority Leader, Honourable Emeka Nwaobi moved a motion to enable the House dissolved itself into Committee of the Whole to screen the nominees for appointment as Honourable Commissioners and members of the Delta State Executive Council and the motion was seconded by the member representing Patani State Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Sinebe.
The lawmakers representing the nominees in their different constituencies including Honourable Festus Utuama, Honourable, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi and Honourable Oboro Preyor spoke on the qualifications of the nominees and further recommended them for confirmation.
Following a motion moved by the majority leader, Honourable Emeka Nwaobi, the Speaker Right Honourable Emomotimi Guwor announced the confirmation of the nominees as members of the State Executive Council.
Right Honourable Guwor urged the nominees and Commissioner designate to bring in their wealth of experience into the Executive Council and join hands with the State Governor, Right Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori in the actualization of his MORE Agenda to Deltans.
