The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State is in an expectant and exciting mood ahead of Wednesday’s issuance of a Certificate of Return to the State Governor-Elect, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.
Oborevwori, the candidate of the PDP won the March 18, 2023, governorship election with a total vote of 360,234 to defeat his closest challenger, Senator Ovie OmoAgege of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who scored 240,229 votes.
Yesterday Sunday, March 26, 2023, the Delta State Governor-Elect and his family were joined by political associates and other Deltans at the Living Faith Church (aka Winners Chapel), Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area to return all the glory to God in Thanksgiving.
Despite some of his opponents in the governorship contest rejecting the outcome of the election and squaring up for a legal battle, Oborevwori during the Thanksgiving service declared that his victory at the polls is permanent.
In a letter of invitation for the issuance of a Certificate of Return dated March 26, 2023, and addressed to the State Chairman of PDP by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) the presentation will take place on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the INEC Conference Hall, State Head Office, Asaba, beginning at 10 am.
According to the letter signed by the Administrative Secretary, INEC Delta State, Dr Monday Hezekiah, “Guests expected to come with Governor-Elect (5), Deputy Governor-Elect (4), Honourable members elect of State House of Assembly (3)”.
Oborevwori, a two-time member of the Delta State House of Assembly is the longest-serving Speaker of the Hallowed Chamber in the state.
