Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and frontline governorship aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori on Sunday rounded off his consultation visits across the 25 local government areas of the state, with an assurance of a greater Delta, if given the opportunity to serve as Governor of the state.
Addressing an unprecedented crowd of party faithful comprising party delegates, leaders, elders, youths, women, supporters and other stakeholders at the grand finale of the consultation visits, Rt Hon Oborevwori said he is in the race for the collective good of the people, stressing that he has the mental and physical capacity to achieve an excellent Delta State.
Oborevwori at the event held at the ancient city of Orerokpe, headquarters of Okpe local government area, pleaded with delegates for the PDP primaries, to make good their promises by ensuring he emerges as the candidate of the party for the governorship contest in the 2023 general elections.
He explained that the present administration in the state led by Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has done so well in Infrastructural Revolution and Human Capital Development, saying that his vision is to continue with good governance at the end of his tenure in May 2023.
Oborevwori assured that in partnership with critical stakeholders, including other agencies of government and traditional institutions, Delta will witness astronomical growth in all spheres of human endeavour.
He stressed that Delta State deserves the best at all times and that he will not renege on his promises to the people.
On the massive turnout of supporters to receive his Consultation train across the 25 local government areas of the state, including those not in partisan politics but who are interested in the future of the state, the Speaker described the development as an affirmation of his acceptability by all ethnic nationalities in the state.
Oborevwori stated that the people are so much enthusiastic over his ambition to step into the shoes of Okowa at the completion of his tenure, emphasizing the need for delegates at the party primaries to ensure his victory as what is ahead is delegate elections.
He disclosed that he has presided over the affairs of the State Assembly with every sense of responsibility, pointing out that the stability in the House for over five years was an attestation of his high leadership acumen and pragmatic approach to politics and governance.
The governorship hopeful described the Orerokpe consultation visit as homecoming and thanked the people for their constant support.
He said he has a MORE agenda to keep Delta State ahead of others in terms of meaningful development among others.
There were goodwill messages from party leaders and elders across ethnic nationalities of the state, including the Ijaws, Aniomas, Itsekiris, Urhobos and Isokos.
They urged the delegates to do the right thing by voting for Sherrif Oborevwori on the day of the party primaries.
