Factional presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Jude Ezenwafor, has announced his withdrawal from the race.
Ezenwafor made this known in a letter though not dated and addressed to the national chairman of the party.
In the letter currently circulating on social media platforms, Ezenwafor said, “I hereby withdraw from the forthcoming Presidential Election in 2023. After consulting my supporters Nationwide, I decided to withdraw for personal reasons.
“I regret any inconvenience my withdrawal might cost our great Party. I thank the leadership of our great Party for giving me the opportunity to serve Nigeria”.
A faction of the party led by Mr Calistus Okafor had announced that it held its National Convention to elect Jude Ezenwafor as its presidential flagbearer.
While Mr Peter Obi, who recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the recognised presidential candidate of LP by the Julius Abure-led faction.
