The Supreme Court has declared, Ahmed Lawan as the authentic candidate for Yobe North Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections.
The ruling means that the senate president will now represent Yobe North, as against Bashir Machina under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In the lead judgement delivered by Justice Centus Nweze, the apex court on Monday faulted the approach of Bashir Machina in commencing the suit at the Federal High Court Damaturu Division by way of originating summons and without oral evidence to prove allegations of fraud.
