Hon Victor Ofobrukueta, has emerged as the new candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Ethiope East Local Government for the March 6, 2021 council polls in Delta State, NewsNet has learnt.

Ofobrukueta, a Pharmacist is the immediate past leader of Ethiope East Local Government Legislative Arm.

NewsNet learnt that the former candidate, Augustine Ogedegbe, was said to have voluntarily stepped aside due to circumstances beyond his control.

However, a reliable source who pleaded anonymity told this medium that Ogedegbe’s sudden exit from the race may not be unconnected to the litigations that are likely to follow his eventual victory as chairman of the council over some wrongdoings.

The leadership of the PDP in the state it was gathered could not take the risk to allow him to go through the elections, emerge winner and thereafter the court will remove him from office.

Should that happen, the opposition in the area would then be control of the council and also the constituency seat in the state House of Assembly.

The new PDP candidate, Ofobrukueta is renowned for being a grassroots politician and one with the passion for the development of his people of Ethiope East Council Area.

His was previously tipped by many to flag the PDP flag for the chairmanship position for the local government area considering his antecedents, pedigree and wealth of experience in party politics and commitment to good governance.

He was born in Okurekpo to the family of late Chief & Mrs Samuel Ofobrukueta Akpomudjere of lsaba family in Okpara, Agbon clan and Abor family of Oria-Abraka both of Delta State in the early 70s.
