A leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, Olorogun Jaro Egbo, on Saturday, March 26, 2022, obtained the membership card of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, to bring to end speculation of his exit from the APC.
Egbo, until his final bowing out of the APC on Saturday, is the leader of Hivoltage, a pressure group within the Delta State Chapter of the party and a dominant force in the inner political circle of the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
He led his Hivoltage movement to cross over to the PDP at his Duke of Campmoses abode at his hometown, Uduere in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The executive of PDP in Ughelli North led by the chairman, Pastor Kess Nomuoja, presented the Hivoltage leader and his team with the PDP card.
Egbo had on Saturday, January 29, 2022, withdrew his expression of interest to vie for the governorship or any elective position under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state come 2023.
In a statement, he personally signed with the title: “WHY I WILL NO LONGER VIE FOR THE APC GOVERNORSHIP TICKET”, Egbo said that it will amount to a futile exercise to vie for the governorship or any elective position under the APC in Delta State when all his efforts to make the party a platform of choice for Deltans “… has been frittered away by the monstrous takeover of all party structures and machinery by an arch-Fascist and anti-democratic fellow.
“The APC in Delta State is now a one-man affair that brooks no alternative opinion. The party we all worked to build in Delta State has become a new APC, Alibaba Political Cabal which has now rendered the tickets of the original Delta APC as a worthless piece of paper that cannot win any election in Delta State”.
Egbo and his Hivoltage team are expected to be formally received into the PDP family in the state by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa at a mega rally slated for Monday, April 4, 2022, at the Ughelli Township Stadium.
