The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday declared Mr Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as the winner of the Edo State governorship election which held on Sunday.
Obaseki who is now re-elected for a second term in office scored 307,955 votes to defeat his main rival, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who polled 223,619 votes.
Out of the 18 Local Government Areas in Edo State, Obaseki won in 13 Local Government Areas.
The PDP candidate won in Egor, Esan Central, Esan North East, Esan South East, Esan West, Ikoba-Okha, Oredo, Ovia North East, Owan West, Uhunmwonde, Igueben, Orhionmwon and Ovia South-West Local Government Areas.
Ize-Iyamu won in Akoko-Edo, Etsako East, Etsako West and Owan East Local Government Areas.
