Towards the Delta State 2023 governorship election, an Ijaw born business mogul, Chief Julius Babogha has said that it is now the turn of the Ijaw’s to produce the next governor of Delta State for equity and justice sake.
The Ijaw leader, who is GMD/CEO of Babsfield Corporate Ventures, made this statement while speaking to newsmen in Warri, said the Ijaws is long overdue in ruling the state, adding that he is not tribal but believes in equity and justice.
Babogha argued that since 1999, the Ijaws have supported other ethnic groups in attaining the governorship position and that almost all the ethnic groups have occupied the governorship seat except the Ijaw nation.
He appealed to other ethnic nationalities to give the Ijaw nation a chance in the forthcoming election saying, “Anything that belongs to everybody needs to be rotated, hence the Ijaws should be given the opportunity in 2023.
“The Urhobos have been there for eight years, same as the Itsekiris and now the Aniomas, so I don’t think there is anything wrong for the Ijaws in Delta State to produce the next governor.
“It is not too much to ask for and if we all believe in justice, then an Ijaw becoming the next governor of Delta State should not bring up an uproar.”
He called on leaders and major stakeholders in the state to allow justice and equity reign as oppressing one ethnic group for the other is core injustice.
